Decorative Plates for Every Home Décor Style
Decorative plates are among the most versatile decorative objects you can bring into a home, working equally well as everyday tableware and as eye-catching wall art. Whether you are refreshing a dining room, styling a shelf, or searching for a meaningful gift, hand painted decorative plates add colour, texture, and heritage to any home décor scheme. A single decorative plate can serve as a striking centrepiece on a dining table, while a curated cluster of plates becomes a gallery-style feature above a sideboard or sofa. Because our decorative items are designed to be both beautiful and durable, they move effortlessly between function and display, complementing everything from rustic farmhouse interiors to sleek modern spaces.

Ceramic Plate, Porcelain and Stoneware Options
Not all decorative plates are made the same way, and the material you choose shapes both the look and the longevity of the piece. A traditional ceramic plate offers a warm, handcrafted character that suits collectors who value artistry, while porcelain delivers a finer, more translucent finish prized for formal dinnerware sets. Stoneware sits between the two: a robust stoneware plate resists chips and everyday wear, making it a practical choice for a decorative dish that will also see use at the table.
Decorative Bowls, Trays and Centerpiece Ideas
Beyond plates, our collection extends to decorative bowls, decorative trays and other decorative dishes that complete a coordinated look. A hand painted decorative bowl makes a generous centerpiece for a dining table, holding fruit or simply standing alone as a decorative accent piece. Matching decorative trays are perfect for corralling keys, jewellery or candles, adding a decorative item that is as useful as it is attractive. Group a bowl, a tray and a few plates together and you create an instant vignette that anchors a room's home decor.

From Dinner Plates to Dessert Plates and Dinnerware Sets
Our decorative plates are just as at home in the kitchen as on the wall. Larger pieces double as dinner plates for special occasions, while smaller designs work beautifully as a dessert plate or side dish. Collectors often build coordinated dinnerware sets by pairing motifs across sizes, mixing a bold centrepiece plate with quieter supporting patterns. Because each plate is fired for food safety with lead-free glazes, you can move a favourite design from the display shelf to the dining table whenever guests arrive, then return it to the wall as art.
Styling Hand Painted Plates Around Your Home
Styling is where a decorative hand painted plate truly comes alive. A single bold design makes a natural focal point above a console or sideboard, while a group of coordinating plates creates a striking gallery wall that draws the eye across a room. Mix different sizes and motifs from our collection so that larger centrepiece plates anchor the arrangement and smaller pieces fill the gaps, letting the rich colours and intricate patterns play off one another. Whether you prefer a symmetrical grid or a more relaxed, organic cluster, our plates layer beautifully to turn a plain wall into a considered display that feels collected rather than staged.
Displaying and Caring for Your Hand Painted Plates
Displaying your plates is simple with the right hardware. A versatile iron plate stand lets you prop a single plate upright on a mantel, sideboard or dining table, showing off the design without drilling into the wall. For a permanent gallery, discreet plate hangers hold each piece securely so you can arrange several plates in a grid or an organic cluster. When you are combining several designs, vary the heights and let a few plates rest on stands while others hang, creating rhythm across the display. To keep each hand painted plate looking its best, dust gently with a soft cloth and wash by hand rather than in a dishwasher, so the vivid glazes and fine detail last for generations.
Choosing Decorative Plates as a Gift or Collection
Decorative plates make a thoughtful, lasting gift because each one carries a story. A hand painted plate marks a wedding, a housewarming or an anniversary far more memorably than something mass produced, and it becomes an heirloom that can be passed down. When you are choosing, think about the recipient's home: bold birds and gazelles suit a lively, colourful room, while gentle floral and Tree of Life motifs work in calmer, more traditional spaces. Every design is available in several diameters, so you can start small and build a coordinated collection over time.
If you are not sure where to begin, one of our most popular pieces, decorative plate WLFR2606, is a reliable favourite that suits almost any interior and showcases the studio's signature style. Browse the full range of decorative plates on our website, compare the 22 cm, 29 cm and 40 cm sizes, and choose the motifs that speak to you. However you display them, these hand painted decorative plates bring colour, craftsmanship and a century of heritage into your home.
Every plate that leaves The Balian Studio is made by hand, from forming the clay on the wheel to the final brushstroke, so no two pieces are ever exactly alike. This is what sets authentic Armenian ceramics apart from factory-printed alternatives: subtle variations in line and colour that reveal the human hand behind each design. Our painters train for years to master the traditional motifs, and that expertise is visible in the crisp detail and depth of colour on every decorative plate we produce.
Whether you are buying a single statement piece for a feature wall or assembling a larger collection for a dining room, you are investing in genuine, handcrafted art with a story that stretches back more than a hundred years. Each decorative plate arrives carefully packed and ready to display, so you can enjoy your new piece the moment it reaches your home, and reorder matching designs whenever you wish to grow your collection.

Custom Designs for Discerning Clients, Restaurants, and Coffee Shops
Beyond our standard collection, The Balian Studio creates custom designs and bespoke patterns made especially for restaurants, cafés and coffee shops. We can develop a unique motif around your brand, logo or theme and hand paint it onto durable porcelain, which is fired to withstand the demands of a busy commercial kitchen and daily use. Whether you want a signature dessert plate for your pastry menu, a set of matching decorative plates for a feature wall, or a complete house pattern that runs across your service, we work with you to bring the idea to life. Porcelain gives these custom pieces the strength and chip resistance that hospitality settings require while keeping the handcrafted character that sets our work apart. If you own a restaurant or coffee shop and would like something truly your own, get in touch to discuss your design, the sizes you need and the quantities involved.
